Event/ Activity Summary

In conjunction with Environmental Day which falls on 5 June 2022, HCIB has the privileged to invite Puan Nazatul Aini Binti Hairoman, Assistant Director of Solid Waste 2 from Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya to give a talk on recycling. Besides that, Hume Cement (Gopeng) rolled out various activities to commemorate this special day.

The day started with a ‘toolbox talk’ session where employees gathered around for a safety briefing and followed by a special environmental quiz. Winners of this special quiz were awarded on the spot with some unexpected gifts and hampers!

Employees then proceeded with a tree-planting session in the quarry and plant area. Colleagues from all levels work hand-in-hand to plant various fruit trees such as mango, rambutan, star fruit, etc. There were smiles and waves of laughter all around as everyone enjoyed this activity very much! This effort is in line with supporting our Malaysian Government’s initiative of 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign 2020-2025, which was part of the Greening Malaysia Programme that was launched by our Prime Minister last year.

With everyone's spirit still high with excitement and enthusiasm for doing more things for the environment, the employees then continued their day with a ‘gotong-royong’ session around Lakeview Kampar. A group of 22 employees happily got their hands dirty, picking up rubbish to clean the park for the surrounding community's enjoyment.
