Signing Ceremony of Research Agreement between UTAR and Hume Cement

Hume Cement Sdn. Bhd. and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) have signed a research agreement at UTAR Sungai Long Campus.

 

Signing the agreement on behalf of the parties were Hume Cement Sdn Bhd General Manager Joonho Choi and UTAR president Prof Datuk Dr Chuah Hean Teik.

The signing was witnessed by Hume Industries Bhd Head of Human Resources Lee Swee Chee and UTAR Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research director Prof Dr Faidz Abd Rahman.

Hume Cement Sdn Bhd General Manager thanked UTAR for giving the opportunity to work together. It is a significant milestone for future academic-industry collaboration projects. He hopes to see more outcomes and achievements from our collaboration to help the university, company and the society.

“To drive our commitments and our goals, we need knowledgeable and skilful support from external parties and UTAR happens to be an ideal partner for Hume Cement,” he said.

The research agreement is to work closely between the two parties to facilitate research and development areas such as in innovation and developing new solutions to meet market requirements to remain relevant in the industry.

Hume Cement Sdn Bhd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hume Industries Bhd; a member of the Hong Leong Group.

It started its operations in 2012 with the aim of offering a complete supply chain solution that meets customers’ needs.

Hume Cement Sdn Bhd has an integrated cement plant located in Gopeng, Malaysia, that utilises ground-breaking technology. It is led by a team of dedicated and experienced professionals that continue to propel the company forward with all the latest industry technical innovations.

Also present at the ceremony were representatives from both UTAR and Hume Cement Sdn Bhd.
